🌿 Striesara — Campaign Status

The Whitethorn Investigation · Current through Session 10 — The Cookie Pantry · Party Level 1
THE PARTY ARE STILL COOKIES. Trapped in Mama Sugah's jar-lined pantry, Toil & Trouble fought through two rooms of animated confections, shattered a jar to free Kessia, and buffed up at a cookie-decorating station. The pantry's labels are the real horror: they catalogue the party as "batches" in an experiment to bind them as familiars to a "keeper." Meanwhile the blight is still emptying the grape clusters, the witches are still blamed, and Renvar Ilthis remains at large.

  • Decorating station — the party coated themselves in buffs (icing, fondant, caramel, chocolate, pop rocks, rock candy)
  • Varyn as an owl — present in owl form (player away); coated in chocolate and rock candy

Recent Arc — Sessions 7 → 10

Session 7The party travels to Blackroot Hollow, fighting through a corrupted forest and into a cave that reeks of rotting fruit and hot iron. Inside they find Renvar's parasite laboratory and Perrin being tortured as Subject 25. After a brutal fight, Renvar casts Time Stop and escapes. The party recovers Perrin (alive but magically incapacitated), seizes the research notes and parasite specimens, finds the drained Cloak of the Archmage, and learns Subject 14 was likely Perigrine LeCroix.
Session 8The party returns Perrin to his family, where a master healer confirms he is inexplicably alive but stripped of all magic. After a recovery night, a grand breakfast, and goodbyes (Perrin retires from adventuring; Lady LeCroix learns of her husband's death; the Earl takes the evidence), the Duke of Whitethorn summons Lysander by name. Three weeks south, the party arrives in Lyre's home city to find its vineyards failing to an unexplained blight and its beloved witches being blamed.
Session 9While Lysander reunites with his father the Duke at the keep and pledges Toil & Trouble to the blight investigation, the rest of the party lingers at Mama Sugah's sweet cart — where the treats hide real magic and Marva gets high for the first time. An unnatural sleep takes everyone (even the elf), and the party wakes as gingerbread people on a cookie sheet, under attack from Mama Sugah's pastry army. The session ends mid-battle.
Session 10Still cookies, the party fights through Mama Sugah's jar-lined pantry: a shelf of candy constructs and a chocolate-river room of oar-wielding Oreos and a golden foil sphere. They shatter Kessia's jar to free her, and the jar labels reveal the transformation is a 'batch' experiment to bind subjects as familiars to a keeper (Marva a failure, Thistle 'Batch 29,' an empty 'Batch #2' citing three marks across a shield and green scales). Mama Sugah manifests from the chocolate to praise them, and the party buffs up at a cookie-decorating station.
